El Dorado is the best-known name here. The whole range is made in Guyana. It runs from young, fresh rums for cocktails right through to bottlings aged well into double figures.
Pusser's takes a different approach, building its rum around the Navy's traditional blend; some bottlings bring together rums from Guyana with spirit from Trinidad and the Caribbean's other old rum-producing islands. Expect a fuller body and higher strength, made to hold its own in a mixed drink.
Add spiced and flavoured rum into the mix too, and Guyanese rum turns out to be one of the most varied styles on the shelf.
