Produced with wheat rather than rye, this single cask edition of W.L. Weller Full Proof has been bottled at 114 proof, or as we say it 'round these parts, 57% ABV. Packed with characterful grain and balanced spice, it's a real treat that wasn't chosen for us; it was chosen by us.

Tasting notes

Nose

Robust, drying oak and leather open the way. That bold ABV makes itself known with notes of polished furniture before candied nuts and burnt sugar start to emerge. In time, waves of green apple, vanilla, and soft stone fruits develop beneath clovey spice.

Palate

Spicy and mouthcoating, with warming notes of candied ginger, peppercorns, dark muscovado, and rich oak char. Seeded bread, smothered with manuka honey.

Finish

Rich, dark caramel and resinous oak linger, with robust layers of clove and peppercorn cushioned by toasted pumpernickel, apple chips, and browned butter.

"An underrated jewel in the Sazerac crown 1792 Full Proof has remained great value over the years and while other brands in the portfolio have become extremely sought after Barton 1792 seems to fly under the radar. Our barrel pick offers lots of spice and sweetness on the palate, and add a tiny bit of water you'll end up with Werther's Originals on the finish. Take me back to the 90s please."

This is not just any bottle of Buffalo Trace. This is our own Master of Malt exclusive single-cask bottle of Buffalo Trace! We chose it from a lineup of many. It was our favourite. It's a tough job sometimes, but someone's got to do it! A mouth-watering batch of the legendary straight Kentucky bourbon.
