Bajan Rum

Bajan is the informal name for Barbados and its people, so Bajan rum just means rum made on the island. Bajan rum starts out as molasses, fermented and run through pot and column stills in whatever combination the distiller fancies. Blending the two is common practice here, which gives many Barbados rums their smooth, fruity character.

Bajan rum often has a life after the first cask too. Planteray ages its rums in bourbon barrels before a finishing spell in Cognac casks, picking up extra richness along the way, while Mount Gay's blend mixes pot and column still rum, rested across whiskey, bourbon and Cognac casks.
