Part of Penderyn's Icons of Wales series, this bottling of their single malt whisky celebrates the famous writer and poet, Dylan Thomas. The Welsh whisky itself is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-dry oloroso Sherry casks, resulting in a rather sweet expression, rich in berry, vanilla fudge and dried fruit notes.

Tried a few of the Penderyns now and this is not my favourite. Slightly earthy nose, with a light, citrusy mouth. There is a bit of a twang in the finish. Overall a little lacking but not unpleasant

To begin at the beginning, it was a sping, moonless night in the small town when I opened my bottle and poured it into a fetching nosing glass. Ahh, the aroma set me thinking of Captain Cat and Nogood Boyo and that devlish Rosie Probert. A fine tipple indeed it is.

Quite sweet but with an unpleasant aftertaste

We excepted something individual, but let us down...Design: regular glass, but nice boxing, with the little book. Nose/Aroma: very slight fruits... But smells like alcohol. Feel: thin whisky... Taste: sugar bourbon a bit.. Very slight hint of the fruits... Finish: medium long, wouldn't be bad, a bit of fruity sweetness, but an acid at the end not pleasant. Summa: we think cherry cask wasn't necessary to use.
