    Single Malt

    Penderyn Madeira Finish

Penderyn Madeira Finish is a single malt Welsh whisky that has been finished in Madeira wine casks. The Penderyn distillery is located in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales, and the whisky is named after the nearby village of Penderyn.

The Penderyn Madeira Finish has a light golden colour and a nose of citrus, honey, and oak. The flavour is sweet and fruity, with notes of orange, lemon, and honey. The finish is long and lingering, with a touch of spice.

Penderyn Madeira Finish is at the heart of the Penderyn range. A beautifully packaged Welsh whisky.

    Apricot Bomb

Having tasted some of the Penderyn new make spirit in the past I of course recognise this whisky shares some of the same qualities so it must be fairly young. On the flip side, I don't find it rough like some reviewers, it comes across as apricot bomb. There seems to other orchard fruits in the background and maybe the faintest hint of the sweeter toffee/honey notes but nothing obvious. If you like those fruit notes, it might be a good one to check out.

    The cleaner you are..

1st Welsh of my 5 bottles so far. It's so smooth it could be chugged. To me the flavour is vanilla with oaky soap. Can't tell if it's sharp florals or young distillery but I enjoy it so much and really appreciate the smoothness. It's pronounced when you know it's with water from the Brecon's. Madeira has Europe's largest tarantula, it's palm sized.

Did the tour today. Great trip made all the better by our guide Helen. Knowledgeable, lovely welsh accent ( I’m a Geordie!) and brimming with enthusiasm. Loved it

Probably too young for a Malt

Visited the Llandudno distillery today, good tour with included tastings at the end. Portwood was good smooth malt but the Madeurq finish original one was harsh, definitely not smooth and not recommended. I'd give it 2 stars, Portwood gets 4 stars. Probably needs maturing for a few more years.
