The Seychelles is a paradise in the Indian Ocean with sandy beaches, great food, mountain views and plenty to drink, from local to beer to Rum Arrangé (a rum-based mixture made with a variety of spices and fruit). But until 2002, there wasn’t a spirit made on the island from scratch. That was until Takamaka Rum. Brothers Richard and Bernard d’Offay, who trace their family history to the 18th century as one of the first families to settle in Seychelles, made the first Seychelles rum. Takamaka rum continues to be produced at the island’s only distillery, the Trois Frères Distillery.
