Nose: BBQ pineapple (with a touch of meaty smoke lingering too), joined by a good whack of cardamom and clove spiciness.

Palate: Slightly Sherried on the palate with dark chocolate, more clove and mince pie-filling.

Finish: The smoke from the nose returns, alongside a dollop of honey.

Caroni for Whiskyphiles

No offense to MoM, and I acknowledge this is currently sold out... but wow, just Wow. The tasting notes above are missing two major ingredients: briny olives and gasoline. While the latter may sound unappetizing, those of us who grew up in the US know the draw of whiffing gasoline fumes, and this dram has it.

Clean gas and olive oil overlaying spicy and sweet rum on the nose. Then neat on the palate, you can't tell this is 62.3%, it tastes like rum heaven. Gasoline soaked fabrics left by grandma in her closet, right next to a ripe basket of fruits, bursting -- guava and citrus, orchard fruits and wood. Holy hell this is complex and tasty. Maybe even a tad of strawberry jam, but doused in cloves, licorice, and tobacco. Truly a transormative experience for this whisky-phile. If it gets better, then I am a lucky boy.
