Description

This magnificent rarity from Trinidad's iconic, and sadly long-lost Caroni distillery joins the collection from indie bottler Forgotten Gems. The rum matured for a total of 25 years, including a finish in first-fill oloroso sherry casks. There are 122 bottles in this batch, boasting a hearty ABV of 61%.

Nose

Robust tannic, oily oak and old leather, treacle toffee, waxed oranges, vanilla cream and burnt sugar. Balsamic poached stone fruits develop in time, with dense caramel and drying, woody spice.

Palate

Bold, dense old oak, candied nuts, dates, and sticky ginger cake, with thick, oily molasses, flamed citrus, cinder toffee, and chocolate.

Finish

Drying oak, peppercorn warmth, treacle, toasted vanilla, leather, and tobacco, with a dusting of nutmeg and a whisper of cassis at the end.
