Blonde is a beer style closely connected to Belgium. As you might expect from the name, blondes will most like have a shimmering golden hue and often show off a great balance between sweet, creamy malt and well-defined hoppiness, somewhat in line with what you would expect from certain Trappist ales. The classic example of a Belgian blonde is Duvel, with its light body, notes of mellow citrus and banana, classically enjoyable bitterness and a subtle spark of spice. As time has gone on, brewers from around the world have taken inspiration from this style, and has become particularly popular in the USA.
