A wonderful Glenlivet, launched for travel retail. This was launched in honour of Alan Winchester, who has been Master Distiller at the distillery since 2009. He created this whisky with European oak butts and first-fill American barrels as well as refill hoggies. Lovely stuff.

Excelente Whisky, eso estoy tomando en este momento
2nd February 2017
This is an exceptionally smooth scotch, I picked up two bottles on a Caribbean cruise. Never been much of a Glenlivet fan until now. Ignore the bad reviews by people with no clue what a good single malt should taste like. I'll buy this again!
27th December 2016
Have not tried it yet.
19th December 2016
This is one of, if not, the smoothest scotches I have ever had. It smells great and it tastes even better. Tried to find it in the states for the past year with no luck so, I made every friend traveling abroad get me a bottle. Just delicious. I want more!!!!!!
7th December 2016
My friends and I call this TEA, it's just that special to us.
6th December 2016
Got it as a gift, my normal tipple is the 12 YO...i find 15/18 y/o too heavy .I drink it neat and i found it respectible. A lot of critic,s on this page ,if you don,t like don,t buy it...I would buy it again for a change from my beloved 12 y/o...Slaine ..happy St Andrews Day ! Gordon K......houston ...good ole US of A .
30th November 2016
Bought this at Arecife airport Lanzarote duty free lovely drink 33 euros bargain
My friends enjoyed it.. now am getting more ...
28th November 2016
I really like the smoothness of this whisky, seems it's one of the reasons some people don't like it. If you're a fan of the more peaty whisky and don't really get on with something lighter don't buy it, if you're open to trying something a little more delicate this is worth a taste.
25th November 2016
The master distiller reserve, 2016/06/08, is chip and tasteless
14th November 2016
Please bear in mind those are personal opinions, I have absolutely "no clue" what the people who say this is not good ( Utter Shite ) to utilize a description. are tasting, but it cant be this. This is one of the very best I have tasted in many many years of drinking malts.. Well done Glenlivet.
26th October 2016
When I first opened this bottle, I didn't care for it. Wasn't much flavor, too smooth, alcohol taste even though it was 40%. Seemed spirity, not scotchy. After a few days though the pear and Apple flavors come out, even though it tastes like green fruit, not ripe fruit, but it's not a bad whisky. Fruity, smooth. But yeah the 12yo is better.
9th October 2016
A wonderfully smooth scotch that you really have to keep sipping to really appreciate the full flavour. To compare this to other Glenlivets is just not fair. This scotch stands on it's own, and to me it all depends on the mood or the guest. Enjoyed this so much, I can't wait to travel again and discover another fine bottle. Cheers!
20th September 2016
THIS WAS AMAZING FLAVOUR WITH OR WITHOUT ICE THE OAK CAME THROUGH WITH THE SHERRY
21st August 2016
I enjoy Glenlivet... usually. The 18yr is outstanding and on my very short list of favorites.I bought this in a duty free. I read the description and thought to myself it was going to be epic. Not so much. The best word for it in my opinion is muddled. There isn't a single or even two distinct notes. I am rather disappointed with it.
11th August 2016
I am a regular 12yr guy. I enjoyed this very much. It is smooth, I like smooth. There are a lot of negatives on here. I think they are comparing to much. Take it for what it is and it is another fine Glenlivet product!
7th August 2016
2015/07/02 for this bottle. Utter shite. Hope someone from Glenlivet is reading this and can help restore our faith in the brand
29th July 2016
Bought this at Frankfurt Airport and thoroughly disappointed. Way too smooth, not distinct taste at all. Waste of money.
12th July 2016
Bought this from duty free. The regular 12 year old was not available. Very disappointing. Hardly any flavour. Had a bitter oakey aftertaste. No comparison with the 12 yr. Glenlivet loyals are being fooled at airports since this is all that is being supplied. 10 july 2016
10th July 2016
There must be something really strange going on here. Bought it an airport duty free and it turned out to be really awful compared to the full bodied 12 yo. It is really flat and bitter and doesn't develop at all once in your mouth. I lined up a dram along with the 12 yo and they are really from different planets. What happened here Glenlivet?
2nd July 2016
This is without a doubt the best Scotch I have ever drank and being around Scotch (single malt) snobs that a lot to say. Balvene, Glenmorange, Chevas, Regular 18/21 yr Glenlivet to name a few. Here is why I like this the best: There is a Spanish wine called Temprillo that has no burn from the moment you tast it to the finish. This Scotch is exactly the same experience. Now there are no doubt as many Skotch snobs as Beer snobs that may not like this but it is a Skotch the non-Skotch drinkers can drink. Only problem is we can't find it anywhere in our area and I have been to 10 stores looking.
22nd June 2016
After purchasing this at the duty-free shop in O.Tambo airport Johannesburg, a couple of months ago, i've finally gotten the chance to open this bottle. As a big fan of the 12yr and 15yr i was VERY disappointing with this product. No Flavors what so ever. Just an awful bitterness. This is shameful.
19th June 2016
With this expression and the Founder's Reserve, Glenlivet have lost a loyal customer. This is not as bad as the Founder's reserve but still a bland expression. The nose was OK but the taste ... it's like the 12yo but watered down with some added bitterness. The finish was quasi non-existent. Bad bottle? Doubtful.
1st June 2016
Very smooth and easy to drink.
24th May 2016
My wife bought this from Manchester airportI drink Glenlivet all the time, this is by far the best I have ever tasted including a 35 year old BalvenieKind regardsJohn
16th May 2016
Have my wife strict instructions and some tool sold her this... No age? After drinking Japanese 21 Yr all last year and enjoying 12/15yr Glenlivet this has smooth finish but no skill or time to smooth out the beginning. Why bother!
12th April 2016
As per a Duty Free Associate in AMS this one is supposed to replace the 12yr. Weak on the palate, not many distinctive flavours develop. OK to drink straight up, but weakens significantly with even just a wee bit of spring water. Not Glenlivet's best veffort.
28th March 2016
Another fine example
20th March 2016
I can't find it anywhere in MD. Why?
14th March 2016
A surprise, a very good surprise. I liked it very much, in the class of the Glenlivets. Sorry it is only fot travel retsil..
6th March 2016
So smooth that have no taste at all.
20th February 2016
Tried one shot on board of a plane departing from Brisbane Australia (in 2016). I'm not the guy who wrote the review in 2014 But I agree that this whisky is GOOD stuff. It was so smooth, almost felt like I was drinking milkshake. can't understand the negative comment, maybe there is a batch to batch issue, or different quality when distributed to different location? whatever the reason, hope Glenlivet will correct this issue.
15th February 2016
So good wished I had got 2 bottles. Thanks for the great Scotch!
4th February 2016
Poor poor poor. Hurried onto the market as a no age statement what a waste.
20th January 2016
This Bouquet is perfect for medium to full bodied smoking. I drank a 1/4 of a liter, with a My Father "Flor De Las Antillas" as well as a Cohiba " Comador" in one sitting. and the combination was out of this world. to all the Cigar enthusiast out there who may read this review. Try for yourself and rate. I personally fell u won"t be disappointed!!!!!
9th January 2016
The finest and smoothest Malt Whisky I have tasted to date. A treasured gift of amazing smoothness from my youngest son who was introduced to the joys af of Speyside Malts whilst at Cambridge some 20 odd years ago. An excelent part of his education, from which I have had the benefit on a number of occasions.
8th January 2016
I bought a bottle of this earlier in the year (2015) at the Sydney airport and it was a very good quality drink. The second bottle, I bought in the Singapore airport (Dec 2015) is horrible. Bitter, not flavourful at all.
21st December 2015
I had this a while back, was great, unfortunately my recent purchase proved otherwise. Perhaps a bad bottle, but this spirit will leave you with a dry tongue and bitterness all over. What a disappointment.
6th December 2015
I was quite shocked at my first taste of this malt so I tried twice more and it didn't get any better. Not quite sure what the distiller is trying to achieve here but for me it is not a malt that I will be finishing. My Brother is quite happy with a nip of Teachers, Grouse or Whyte and McKay so what is left of the bottle is on its way to his house.
26th November 2015
I definitely like the 12 year old better than the reserve
8th November 2015
Glenlivet 12yr was my favourite malt. Replaced by this rubbish at higher price. Think glenlivet trying to cash in on popularity... I know at least 4 others (friends) Who will not be buying this.... Big mistake.. No rating.
6th August 2015
Got it from my friends when they visited me in Bulgaria.....and just love it! Lovely, smooth and mild down the throat. Exzellent for beginnend and occaissional drinkers. Travel myself in September and will get eine if still available. Yummy!!!!
22nd June 2015
Glenlivet 15 YO and Nadurra 16YO is my favourite of Glenlivet. I would not buy Master Destillers Reserve again, too young whisky for me
15th May 2015
I felt its slightly salty
22nd March 2015
Quite simply one of the best whisky's I've tasted over the last 25+ years. It is smooth whilst having depth, and it's difficult to put it down once you start drinking it. This ones a wee stoater!
19th March 2015
Sincé the very first time I tested Master´s Destiller Reserve it became my favorite.
12th March 2015
picked this up at the Ottawa duty free for $35US. Incredible price and I'm not disappointed. Not as complex as the 18 but well crafted to enhance pleasure-ability. Easy to like.
7th March 2015
Smooth and full of flavor, just magnificent!!! I strongly recommend this whisky(or any Glenlivet) enjoy!!!
13th February 2015
Can not review because I have not tasted it yet, but purchased a pair as a special sale for US $78.00 both at the Miami International duty free last night.
28th January 2015
I was lucky enough to get a bottle of this drop for $90 duty free at the Brisbane International Airport in Australia and having never been much of a drinker, the only reason I bought this is because I was made a drink of it while in the airline lounge waiting for my plane and that first sip was so sublime, I swore right then that had I ever tasted a drink as good as this I may well have developed a penchant for drinking much earlier!I was disappointed to find that it was not available at my local bottle shop. I bought the 18 year old instead and was not as impressed. If I ever come across another stash I will buy the all!
23rd November 2014
I bought this at Geneva Arport because of the attractive price 37€ equiv. in Swiss Fr. Fantasticly smooth taste, and better quality and value than many of the more expensive whiskies on sale "duty free"!
14th November 2014
Bottle purchased in Duty Free was disgusting due to smell and taste or rotten wood /sweaty socks. Maybe a rogue bottle but if so where it's the Quality Control /Assurance?
Very smooth and exellent taste enjoyed best neat or otr
29th October 2014
Bought this, like others, at an airport...a litre for around 40 quid - hard to say no to. Lovely, smooth, sweet, hints of licorice, spice, damp oak, a good solid Glenlivet well worth this very low price. Great long finish too.
28th October 2014
Smoooooooooooooooooooooth it is
30th September 2014
It's aged in three different casks for 6 years each (traditional oak, american oak and ex-sherry first fill casks). So it's not 12, it like a 18 yo.. A friend brought me one from UK (enoying a deal than when buying two, you pay 30£ per bottle), I'll gladly soon taste it.
27th September 2014
got a bottle at Orlando international on my way home and have found it excellent, one of the smoothest and tastiest I have had , can't pick up on the creamy fudge though.
23rd September 2014
They won "Silver Distillers' Single Malts 12 years and under - 2014". So it's below 12years or at best 12years.
11th September 2014
Smooth and delicious whisky. The master distiller has produced a expert blend, the 3 casks used bring it an unique flavour. For the 55$ price tag it is a good buy.
4th September 2014
I am a huge fan of Glenlivet with the 18 and 21 amongst my favourite Speyside drops. Unfortunately, this one cannot compare to eithre and would recommend if you are considering buying this bottle that you pay a little extra for the 18.
30th June 2014
just picked the wifey up from gatwick. bought me a bottle duty free. excellent excellent excellent!
26th May 2014
The smoothest whiskey I have ever had the pleasure of, and I have tried many
3rd May 2014
Forgot the rating to the review below "Impresive".
20th March 2014
I bought two bottles of this great Scotch while travelling as well as a Glenfiddich 15 Years Old Solera Vat and a Glenfiddich 12 Years Old. While travelling, my wife broke one of the bottles and it happened to be the Glenfiddich 12 Y.O. (which I have drank a lot of due to the accessible price). Nowadays I only drink Single Malts (except with friends to get get drunk) and I usually do not like the idea of no age statements, but this turned out to be great! In fact, I have tried both Glenlivet 12 years old and the 15 years old (travel retail version, not the French Oak) and I must say that this is superior in all aspects. I am not a sommelier to say what flavours I can identify, but I know when I like something. I definitely recommend it if you find it while travelling and I am glad my wife broke the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old instead of one of these.
we are two old Single Malt enthusiasts sitting together and tasting a row of Glenlivets - the 12 - cask str 16 - and the master destillers reserve. The 16 and MDR both impress with smoothness and complexity - we salute from Lillesand, Norway!!
4th January 2014
New to single malt. Had this Oban 14 and Macallen 12 tonight. Worst of the bunch if you ask me. I'm Canadian and can drink anything. My point is this is more work than it is worth.
3rd January 2014
Hi there! This is a no age statement whisky, so we cannot tell you how old it is, I'm afraid. --The Chaps at Master of Malt
16th December 2013
what age is the Master Distillers reserve?
14th December 2013
I was quite curious when I bumped onto this one in the airport. Smooth, rich fantastic flavour. Love it!
24th November 2013
Took a chance on this at the duty free shop, coming back from the US into Canada. If only the lottery was as lucky! This is an utterly delightful single malt, great flavor and balance, with a finish that simply begs for another sip. I have since been back to the US and brought more back with me, and will continue to do so, so long as it is available.
13th September 2013
I love flying in and out of Gatwick ~nothing like a great tasting of the best Scotch from around the world!! This is exceptional whisky
14th August 2013
If you still have that bottle, let me know what you need and we can deal..
19th July 2013
I have a bottle of this that I would like to trade for Bourbon, or possibly sell. Please contact me if interested. firstname.lastname@example.org
6th May 2013
its stored in 3 different casks 6 yrs each and then mixed is what i was told..i loved it when i tasted a sample
27th April 2013
Possibly the most enjoyable whisky I've ever tasted. Very difficult to keep in the bottle. Such a smooth and rounded flavor. My dad brought a bottle to the US for us to share and after the first taste I asked my brother to bring me 2 more on his next visit.
1st December 2012
I'm not a connoisseur of good whisky, but this one is amazing. Just can't find how old it is, perhaps it doesn't matter :)
16th November 2012
One of the best single malts i have tried to this point, fruity and nutty, I wish I had more!
31st October 2012
I tasting now..
13th October 2012
Very aromatic, great stuff.
4th July 2012
Absoluitely fabulous, full bodied and aromatic. Up there with the nadurra and 12 yo first fill, both of which were bought on my last trip abroad.
