A 28 year old single malt from the Glenlivet Distillery, independently bottled up as part of the Darkness range! This richly sherried expression enjoyed a finishing period in a specially-coopered Oloroso sherry octave cask, helping to impart a wealth of intense dried fruit and Christmas cakes notes to the Speyside single malt.
Pure Christmas cake - sherry, dried fruit and baking spices as well as hazelnut and blood orange is complemented by butterscotch and a little brine. Oloroso-soaked wood and leather develop underneath.
Bittersweet orange chocolate, plump, sweet sultanas and black honey adds to the lingering notes from nose alongside herbal flowers and a refined oak note. A flicker of ginger percolates throughout.
The chocolate becomes darker along slightly bitter espresso and prunes.
