One of two special festival releases from Bowmore for Fèis Ìle 2014, this more expensive bottling is a marriage of first-fill American oak barrel and French wine barrique. It was matured for 24 years before being bottled at 53.3% abv.
This bottle was part of a private collection.

Nose: Yummy orange, caramel - the first impression is certainly that this has enough bourbon influence to stand up to the wine. Rich, creamy and fruity with Rich Tea biscuits, Dime bars and Caramac bars too.
Palate: A whole load of toasty spices and a punnet of raspberries in the sea breeze.
Finish: Smoky milk chocolate.
Overall: Well-judged use of wine cask matured liquid has resulted in a very tasty premium festival bottling.
