New Gin Arrivals

Welcome, gin lovers, one and all, and behold… new gin! There is so much gin out there, made in myriad styles, flavoured with a mind-bogglingly broad range of botanicals, produced all over the planet. Not only is there an entire world of gin out there, but they also keep making more of the stuff; we list fabulous new gins on an almost daily basis, made in numerous wonderful styles.

Try the latest in: London Dry Gin
Widely considered the quintessential gin, or the gin for all seasons, if you will, London Dry is a very pure style made by distilling a neutral spirit directly with the juniper and other botanicals. The result is a superbly balanced gin, with wonderful examples from brands like Beefeater, Bombay Sapphire, and Tanqueray. These are, of course, wonderful in Gin & Tonics, but are also very well suited to a Dry Martini.

Try the latest in: Old Tom Gin
Named for the illicit spirit sold in the cloak and dagger days of the gin craze, when bars would sell gin secretly, advertising it with a wooden sign shaped like a black cat, or “Old Tom”. Wonderful brands such as Hayman’s, Jensen’s, and Ableforth’s (brands with apostrophes in their names for some reason) produce spirits in this style, offering a delicate, sweetened juniper profile, reminiscent of traditional 18th-century gin.

Try the latest in: Plymouth Gin
This pure, soft, fruity spirit is exclusive to Plymouth, England, where it is made at the Plymouth Distillery. There are many new additions to the Plymouth Gin category and this gin is a subtly earthy, slightly herbal gin, which sits somewhere between Old Tom and London Dry. It was, until recently, one of just three gins in the world with a geographical designation. It’s also a gin with a long history associated with the Royal Navy, thanks to its location in the ancient harbour city.

Try the latest in: Genever
Genever or Jenever is the Dutch ancestor of modern gin, and it offers up a unique malty style, not unlike a sort of juniper-based whisky, if you can imagine such a thing. It’s also typically aged in oak and bottled in characteristic ceramic bottles. We have many new Genever Gins in stock and this is great either enjoyed neat, or in cocktails like the classic Tom Collins.

Try the latest in: New Western gin
An unofficial style, but a great umbrella term for brands like the USA’s Aviation Gin or Germany’s Monkey 47, which have been throwing out the rule book and creating wonderfully innovative gins in a totally original way.
