Five spirit lovers came together after attending a glut of spirit tastings at The Commercial Inn, Chapeltown, in Sheffield, and decided they would learn how to make their own boozy creations. They founded the Sheffield Distillery and gained permission from the Sheffield Assay Master, an organisation that has assured quality in the city since 1773. The vodka and gin made at this distillery carry the ‘Assay’ name and the Sheffield Assay Mark.
Everything is made onsite where it all began at The Commercial Inn, in a custom-built distillery situated in the pub’s beer garden. The expressions are distilled slowly in a hand-hammered copper pot still, and every bottle is labelled, corked, and wax-dipped by hand too.
