Zaya Gran Reserva Rum

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Zaya Gran Reserva Rum to you in United States at the moment. We're working on a solution.

Zaya Gran Reserva Rum Bottling Note

Zaya Gran Reserva is made with a carefully crafted blend of rums, resulting in a rich, oily, nutty expression. Good helpings of citrus peel and heaps of vanilla notes throughout this one.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Buttery biscuits, Curaçao orange, brown sugar, walnut, fresh vanilla pod, a enjoyably savoury hint of olive oil on rye bread, Brazil nut.

Zaya Gran Reserva Rum Reviews

Lacks complexity, too sweet

Forgive me for disagreeing, but I taste no complexity to this rum. Smooth yes, but overwhelmingly sugary. If that's what you like in rum, maybe this one's for you. For a Trinidadian rum, I'll stick with Angostura.

High End Rum

Very smooth rum, initially complex, with a gentle bite. To me it has a slightly excessive molasses aftertaste which is the only flaw I can think of.

Buy zacapa!

Ruined by Diageo, no more the guatamalan original.

One of, if not the best!

Great rum at a great price.

I first had this several years ago on a trip back to Hawai'i (where I had lived for 6 years, and my daughter spent her formative years). I had been booked by my company into the JW Marriott, and as a platinum member was getting the royal treatment. At the bar, I ordered a Cuba Libra, and the bar keep asked if I had tried Zaya, a spiced rum. I told him I wasn't really a fan of spiced rums, as they tasted saccharine. He insisted I try it, and gave me a dram on the house. That was not my last that night, and now years later it's my go-to. Right now I have 19 single malts on my bar (I'm a Balvenie man, but I do have a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue as well), but when I'm feeling nostalgic for the islands (the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where I grew up; Hawai'i, where I lived for years; or the Florida Keys, where I fell in love) I reach for the Zaya.

A smooth and enjoyable aged rum

I recently had the pleasure of tasting Zaya 12 year Grand Resreva rum for the first time at a local smoke shop's Friday night cigar gathering in Rochester, NY. It was the smoothest most drinkable rum I ever had. It is pleasantly sweet with hints of vanilla and spice and was the perfect pairing with a Romeo & Julietta 1875 Cigarellos gordo. I enjoyed it so much, I purchased two bottles the next day at a local liquor store for a very reasonable $27 each. I normally enjoy my cigars with a dram of well aged single malt Speyside or Highland scotch, but I am happy to have discovered a most favorable alternative in Zaya 12 year rum either neat or on the rocks.
