Signatory Vintage was founded in 1988 by Andrew Symington. In an industry increasingly run by committees, Signatory is still led by the person who started it. Signatory whisky built its name on single cask releases presented in understated labels, a contrast to the flashy packaging favoured elsewhere in the trade.

Cask strength, no colouring, no apology

You'll find the house habits repeated bottle after bottle: first-fill and refill sherry butts, oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks alongside bourbon wood. Many are bottled at a bold 57.1% ABV, the old-fashioned "100 Proof" strength. Chill filtration and added colour are both off the table as standard, so what's in the bottle is close to what came out of the cask. The result is a catalogue of single malts and grains from distilleries all over Scotland, each one picked and bottled on its own merits.
