An Australian classic, d'Arenberg has been making great wine in McLaren Vale in South Australia since 1912. The winery is best-known for its legendary and very expensive Dead Arm Shiraz, but it's more affordable wines are always excellent too. This grenache/ shiraz blend was aged in a mixture of American and French oak barrels which provide spice and structure to the opulent southern hemisphere fruit. This would be splendid with all kinds of red meat dishes as well as rich tomato-laden pasta dishes.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Black cherries and raspberries with lots of spice like clove and cinnamon, ripe soft tannins, and an earthy leathery finish.
