A superb Kentucky straight bourbon from Evan Williams, produced in small batches. The 1783 expression is named after the year that Evan Williams set up his distillery on the banks of the Ohio River.
Nose: Brown sugar and maple syrup, backed up by hints of dried apricot and raisin.
Palate: Continued syrup-y sweetness as it opens up, with cinnamon and black pepper warmth building.
Finish: Light hints of corn and malt stick around.

I tried the whisky for the first time. This is a fine whisky equivalent to Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Wile Turkey Rare Breed, Woodford Reserve in the U.S.A. as well as Johnny Walker Black in Britain, etc. As I am Japan-born, I would compare compare with Nikka whiskies and Suntory's "Hibiki." Well Done !!!

I have been a fan of Evan Williams black for forty years ,it's my go to bourbon. Just tried 1783 it has richer aroma and taste than black label. Evan Williams bib is too hot for my tastes ,1783 will be my special bourbon.

Their website says it's 90 proof. It's 86. Fail.

Lighter and more complex than EV black. Nice variety of flavors-vanilla toffee with some baking spice and pepper. Current price in Indiana is $13.99, same as the black label, and a real deal.

More positive flavor than the black label, and suppression of slightly negative flavors that come out in the BIB version, 1783 is my favorite in this price range from HH. It appears to be a more select product. One of only 4 Bourbons I drink neat under $20.

I’ve been drinking a lot of bourbon lately to warn off the Covid (whiskey has a high concentration of ellagic acid in it, which is a strong antiviral agent.) A buddy of mine tipped me off to 1783, and it is by far the best bourbon you can get for your money. I will be buying this henceforth on the regular.

Excellent! My “every day” bourbon. Just bought EW White and it may replace 1893.

One of my favorites and affordable try it

This bourbon is my go-to for my home bar. I've never done it but I believe that in a blind taste test for enjoyability, it would regularly dominate other bourbons that sport a pocketbook-depleting price tag. Some bourbons' alcohol is front and center, and while 1783's is certainly a feature, it is more balanced than other of my favorites. I LOVE it.
