The final release in Douglas Laing's Yula series is here! Following on from the Yula 20 Year Old and Yula 21 Year Old, this is the Yula 22 Year Old blended malt, made with peated whiskies from Islay and the Islands. The series was named after the Norse goddess Yula, who was said to have searched for her long lost love with an apron full of stones. As she search, the stones fell from the apron and became islands, with the final stone forming Islay - Yula's resting place.
Catch a gentle oceanic salt and ozone clean zephyr as the nose opens – with its later tobacco and leather style.
Palatewise, anticipate a complex mix of sweet peat, pepper, coal dust, oak wood smoke and a late-on-the-palate chocolatey sweetness.
The long subtle finish initially reflects that dulcet, barley quality but still shows a warmingly spiced, tarred and sooted style.
