Bunnahabhain '06-'15 Bottling Note

A rather splendid indie bottling of single malt Scotch whisky from the Bunnahabhain distillery, bottled for the MacPhail's Collection by Gordon & MacPhail. It was distilled on the Isle of Islay in 2006 and bottled in 2015 at 43% ABV. Indie Islay - always a wonderful sight indeed!

Bunnahabhain 2006 (bottled 2015) - The MacPhail's Collection (Gordon & MacPhail) Reviews

Interesting flavors (sherry, fruits, cereals, heather, a bit of peat and smoke), but aggressive, leaving an frustrating dryness in the mouth. Perhaps it is manly a question of age, I do not know. The 18 yo Bunnahabhain (marketed by the distillery itself) could be considered a much better (but much more expansive) version.

The best Single malt that I have tried at the price point. In summary (without going into notes that you can find on the Internet) this is balanced, warm and full of flavours that tell you this is a well prepared, full and satisfying malt. My favourite.

Very disappointing; unrefined and loud. Too much pepper on the nose. I enjoy a lairy whisky (Laphroiag being a particular favourite) but it should be smooth as well as powerful - this just tastes harsh.

Best Bunna

Took this one with me from a trip to Scotland, was strongly advised. Could not agree, a great peated Islay. The best Bunnahabhain in my opinion
