Vilarnau is a distinguished cava producer located just outside Barcelona which was founded in the 1940s. The winery is celebrated for its artisanal approach to creating high-quality cava, a Spanish sparkling wine made using the traditional méthode champenoise. In 1982 it was acquired by sherry giant González Byass, which provided the resources to refine their winemaking and expand their reach.
The wines are made from the classic cava varieties, macabeo, parellada, and xarel·lo, and are known for their vibrant effervescence, clarity, and expressive fruit flavors, often enhanced with notes of toasted brioche and almonds due to extended lees ageing. The bottles are notably packaged in avant-garde designs inspired by Gaudi that reflect the winery’s innovative spirit.
