Here's an unusual thing, a Malbec from Australia. It's a grape more usually associated with Argentina and France. This is made by Zonte's Footsteps in South Australia. If the name sounds familiar it's because Violet Beauregarde is one of the spoiled children from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Though in this case 'Beauregard' is spelt without an 'e' so honestly who knows? Anyway it does taste of violets and would be delicious with char-grilled meat of all kinds.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
On the nose there's sloes, spice and yes violets! It's rich and soft on the palate with mulberries and more violets. Violets galore.
