While Chile is best-known for its mastery of Bordeaux varieties like cabernet sauvignon and merlot, it also produces some marvelous syrah and syrah blends. This is made up of 45% syrah with 29% carmenere (and old Bordeaux variety) with some carbernet, grenache and mourvedre grown in Aconcagua valley. This is a fresh, fruity and complex wine from one of Chile's best producers, Errazuriz.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
This has a vibrant floral nose with notes of violet and strawberry. The fruit on the palate is fresh with some nutty spicy notes from barrel ageing and smooth tannins.
