Carmenere is an old Bordeaux grape that is almost extinct in its homeland but has gone on to great things in Chile where for a long time it was thought to be merlot. This example comes from the cool Aconcagua region. The grapes where handpicked, fermented in stainless steel and then spent 14 months in French oak barrels. Following three years in bottle, this is perfect to drink now.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Ripe black cherries on the nose with tobacco and some baking spice. Fresh and elegant on the palate with ripe fruit, soft tannins and a mellow spiciness.
