If you like wines from the Rhone then you'll love this. It comes from Swartland in South Africa and it's a blend of 27% grenache, 26% syrah, 22% mataro, 11% carignan, 8% petite sirah and 6% tannat. The accent is very much on fragrance and freshness rather than thick jammy fruit making this a very versatile food wine. Yes, it's good with meat but it also wouldn't be out of place with a vegetable tagine.
Bright juicy fruit with brambles and raspberries, with notes of pepper, violets, leather and thyme. Ripe tannins and an aromatic fresh finish.
