Primitivo is the same grape as zinfandel in California. It's known as Crljenak Kaštelanski in Croatia where it originates. You can understand why this name didn't catch on. Anyway! This is particular Primitivo is a ripe full-bodied wine that would be excellent with spicy pasta dishes or mature hard cheeses like pecorino.
Spiced plums, bittersweet black cherries and a touch of raisin with orange peel, liquorice, leather and cloves.
