Paul Cluver Estate Chardonnay 2018
Don't fret, whisky fans, this is from Elgin, South Africa, not Elgin, Scotland where it's much too cold to ripen chardonnay. In fact with its cool ocean breezes, Elgin is the perfect place for Burgundian grapes. Here the grapes are treated to 9 months in French oak casks which gives a roundness and texture to that zingy fruit. Try this oysters.

Orange, lemon and melon fruit on the palate with some floral notes, a fresh acidity leading to richer brioche and almond flavours on the finish.
