Langhe Nebbiolo comes from vineyards outside the demarcated Barolo region. It offers wines that are good value and tend to be drinkable at a younger age than its more illustrious relative. This example is made by a family-owned Barolo house, Poderi e Cantine Oddero, that has been going since 1878. The grapes come from La Morra and Santa Maria Bricco San Biagio, and are harvested manually, before fermentation and ageing in old casks. This would be great with a mushroom risotto.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
On the nose there's strawberries and violets. The palate is fruity with ripe tannins and an earthy leathery finish.
