Marqués de Murrieta is one of the grand old names of Rioja. It's been making some of the region's best wines since the 19th century. The Reserva is a great place to start exploring this famous producer. It's made from a blend of 87% tempranillo, 6% graciano, 5% mazuelo, and 2% garnacha, and spends 18 months in 225 litre American oak casks followed by another 18 months in bottle. Unlike Bordeaux, Rioja is sold ready to drink. If you're roasting a leg of lamb then look no further. We recommend decanting this as it really opens it up.
Vanilla, coconut, blackcurrant and tobacco on the nose with a little furniture polish. Lots of ripe fruit on the palate, not faded at all, and then nutty and toasty with vanilla, tobacco, and a creamy finish. Tannins very ripe and yielding.
