Marchesi Di Gresy Martinenga Barbaresco 2008
A top expression from Italian producer, Marchesi Di Gresy, the Martinenga Barbaresco is made with 100% Nebbiolo grapes. A cheerful red, with jammy notes of dark cherries and sweet liquorice, underpinned by fragrant tobacco and a touch of leather. Marchesi Di Gresy started producing wine in 1973, and many of their expressions are superb in their own right, but also pair with food magnificently (and easily). This one, for example, goes rather well with strong cheeses and poultry dishes.
