Lopez de Heredia continues to produces astonishing Rioja, and the proof here is the 2009 vintage Viña Tondonia Red Reserva. With a solid core of Tempranillo, seasoned with portions of Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo, this tremendous red wine spent six years maturing in oak before being bottled. You'll want to decant this one and give it a bit of time before enjoying a glass, and perhaps serve alongside lamb.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Robust red fruit, with black cherry and strawberry up front, followed by earthy spices and a hint of old leather.
