Cornas in the Northern Rhone is an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) famous for its meaty intense wines made entirely from the syrah grape. This example comes from granite soils which are on a 30% slope hence the name 'Granit 30.' Very logical people the French. It's made from vines of 15 years and older and aged briefly in large old oak casks, so this wine is all about the pure fruit expression. We recommend decanting and serving with suitably rich food like a daube de bouef.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Intense dark fruit like blackberries and damsons with liquorice, rosemary and black olive, all wrapped up in some firm meaty tannins.
