This red wine comes from the family run Claudio Mariotto winery in the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. Produced using the native Freisa grape, this is brimming with flowery aromas and rustic berry character. Should make a wonderful accompaniment to slow cooked meat or mushroom dishes.
Fresh pressed grapes, raspberries, floral rose petals, and jasmine combine with bitter chocolate and menthol notes on the finish.

2016 - right at the end of its prime. Vigorous, unmistakably Piedmontese, suggestive of lots of other wines as well as itself being perfectly balanced - no need for Bordelesian computing, it's all here - with freshness yet hints of marmelata and even a wry lemony appeal at the end. Marvellous!
