A splendidly robust red wine from Australia, it's the 2017 vintage of Charles Melton's exquisite Nine Popes! Combining grenache, shiraz and mourvèdre grapes, this wine takes inspiration from the wines of the southern Rhone valley in France and will be a marvelous one to enjoy on a special occasion. Incidentally, the name is a play on Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the most famous wine of the region, as Pape means Pope in French and neuf means nine (though in this case it means new).
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Chewy dark fruits, juicy berries, and plums, a prickle of pepper and aromatic fennel with touches of tangy oak and flint.
