The scenic vineyard at the Castello di Potentino is located on the slopes of the highest peak in Tuscany, Monte Amiata, an extinct volcano, which means you can expect the terroir of its wines to be influenced by the mineral-rich volcanic soils, Tuscan sun and cooling influence of the mountain. This particular 2011 vintage deep ruby wine was created using Sangiovese grapes which were fermented using wild yeasts and aged for 24 months in 50 Hl barrels of French oak.
Dark cherry, cassis, tobacco, leather and hints of vanilla combine in an earthy and rich wine with some oaky tannins and black pepper.
