This comes from the mountainous northern part of Italy where the country starts to become more like Austria. The clue is in the name, Südtirol, German is spoken more here than Italian. The wines have something of an Austrian feel too. This is made from pinot bianco or grauburgunder as it's known in German. A good way to think of this not particularly famous grape is it makes wines that taste a bit like chardonnay.
