Lagrein is a grape native to the Alto Adige where Italy meets Austria. Many of the inhabitants speak German, so it's also known as Südtirol. It's known for producing perfumed wines, and we have such a wine right here from Cantina Andrian, a cooperative that was founded in 1893 (also known as Kellerei Andrian, by the German speakers). A great pairing with herby stews.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Vibrant fresh red fruit on the nose with a hint of violets, light and silky on the palate. Silky texture in the mouth, ripe plummy fruit with earthy tannins and a long finish.
