Macallan Whisky Maker's Bottling Note

A beautiful whisky from Macallan launched for the travel retail market. This was created by Macallan's distillery manager, Bob Dalgarno, and he made it from a mix of sherry and bourbon oak-matured whisky. Delicious…

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Spicy and sweet, some marmalade, cocoa and orange rind, chocolate, coffee beans and cinnamon spice.

Palate: Thick and luscious, big on juicy ripe fruits, date cake, cedar, sherried peels and fudge.

Finish: Long and spiced, Jaffa cakes...

User Reviews of the Macallan Whisky Maker's Edition 1l

Not worth the price

I have to say that Macallan is one of my favorites. I started with the 12yr back in 2004 and since, I compare them all to that one.

I purchased the Edition 1 to try and it did not give me the same pleasure as I get from the 12yr. I have has 18yr, 25yr (before the price went crazy) and the 12yr has a special taste and aroma the others don't.

As for the Edition 1, I will drink it, but IMO, not worth twice the price.

Average to below

Seriously? This is average at best. Try Glenmorangie Milsean if you want to taste a good special edition for about the same price in a non-age single malt. At least the purchase price was not wildly beyond the quality of the contents. Nonetheless, I will probably purchase next year's special edition.

simply perfect

If you like the spice and fruit and marmalade and chocolate and coffee you must try this whisky single malt perfect matured. Only one recommendation! Last to drink this whisky after enjoying the smell, you must close your eyes....:)

Phenomenal

Better than the 18 in my humble opinion. Blows the rare cask away as well.

Very smooth and easy drinking. Tasted a lot like toffee and caramel. Great Christmas holiday treat for everyone in the family.

Merry Christmas!

My Dad got this for me for Christmas. Thanks Dad! It is everything it's cracked up to be. Delicious. Sampled neat...a little too much alcohol content to detect all that is going on in there. A splash of water is perfection. Fantastic flavor and finish.

Complex taste for single malt connosieurs.

I just bought a couple of bottles of this great Mcallan. I have to say that the combination of fruit and spice, aín't for the faint of heart. The good results from such mix, achieves an outstanding and rare palate full of taste, a beaufil journey of finish and one of the most outstanding whiskey noses you've ever tried. Friends that haver shared a sip, spent most of their time taking a deep breath of the glass with their eyes closed.
