Macallan 15yo Double Cask

Another stellar addition to the Double Cask range from Macallan, it's a 15 Year Old expression! The single malt spent its years in a combination of American and European oak, both of which were seasoned with Oloroso sherry. What did you expect from Macallan? A wonderful balance of creamy sweetness and fiery spice to be found in this one.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Butterscotch and plump raisin, with spiced apple crumble and oak spice.

Palate Dried fruits galore, with a dusting of cinnamon, candied ginger and orange peel.

Finish More warming ginger alongside a drizzle of honey and buttery caramel.

Reviews for The Macallan 15 Year Old Double Cask
Smooth Vanilla
You can definitely taste the vanilla and without water. If with cheese I rinse the glass first with water which softens the whisky allowing the cheese to shine along with the whisky

One to savour
We tried this neat. The nose offered up raisins, apple crumble topping, butterscotch, mince pies along with a subtle smokiness. The palate was smooth with orange peel, dried fruits and subtle smoke. The finish was long with orange peel, ginger warmth and a note of smoke. We really enjoyed this one, take your time and savour the complexity.

Would make a nice present.
Slightly darker single malt whiskey, quite a distinct and heady smell. Very smooth with a stronger and longer lasting after taste.
Personally preferred the "Macallan 12 Year Old Double Cask"

Lovely
Alright, so I tried The Macallan 15 Year Old Whisky, and it's like a flavour rollercoaster. The colour is this beautiful rich amber, and the smell hits you with a mix of toffee, dried fruits, and a hint of cinnamon – proper inviting. Taking a sip, it's a sweet explosion, like caramel and raisins having a party in your mouth. There's a subtle spicy kick too, which keeps things interesting. The whole experience is smooth, leaving a warm, lingering taste. It's a bit pricier, but worth it.

Strong taste
This has a strong taste that is noticeably stronger than their Double Cask 12 year old product. I could really taste the flavouring of the sherry cask, which is something I can’t say I’ve experienced before even when drinking these premium whiskies. There was definitely a strong taste of oak spice as well, that was a lot more overpowering than the other notes listed in the description.

New favourite
Smell. Fig and vanilla. Similar to the 12 yo. But more complex. Warming
Texture is almost a banana type creamyness but without the flavour.
Taste sweet initially like candied peel. Developing into Fig notes and then a lingering heat at the end. Some bitterness but nicely balanced. Panacotta type creamyness. This comes across in the nose as it airs and develops.
Drop of water and it becomes more fruity/citrus on the nose. Fresher. Water removes some of the heat, but doesn't impact the flavour in

Too expensive
I'm not normally a whisky drinker but I drank this one neat to get the true flavour,
It wasn't as good as the 12 year old whisky I felt the combined flavours were too much together, and it was way too expensive.

Nice smooth whisky with ice.
Nice smooth whisky with ice. Not smokey at all which is nice. Definitely nicer than the 12 year and more bodied. Harsher than the 18 year but significantly cheaper

Very good for celebrating and for a gift
Macallan 15 here we have another very good double cask, the American and European oak is doing really good job together. After trying the 12 yo macallan I can see the difference, this one has more deeper and more lovely creamy taste.
