Macallan 12 Double Cask Bottling Note

An exciting new age statement single malt Scotch whisky from Macallan that's matured in a combination of American and European Sherry oak for a minimum of 12 years. Here, the proportion of American oak ex-Sherry casks is higher than in the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, but no ex-bourbon casks are used as they are in the 12 Year Old Fine Oak release.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Classic dried fruit territory, if less intense than the Sherry Oak expression. Aromatic butterscotch too.

Palate Creamy and honeyed with some thick-cut marmalade, cinnamon and warm pastries.

Finish Fruity with vanilla and sultana.

First taste of a premium whisky
Can really appreciate the quality, compared to less expensive brands. Would definately purchase again.

A lovely bottle of whisky
I was gifted a bottle of this as my first experience of single malt. And wow! A cracker of a whisky. So glad I had the opportunity. Would definitely buy again.

A whisky to be recommended.
Smooth, rich bodied & now our favorite whisky.

Ok, but over priced
To me its ok but prefer Tobermory 12 or Aaran 10 for almost half price. Glad i got a sample :)

Lacks character; over priced.
This is only OK when compared to other cheaper 12 yo single malts. I much prefer the Arran 10 yo and Balblair 12 yo, each of which is distinctive in flavour has more character than this Macallan.

An excellent malt at a great price. One of my favourites.

The new double cask fails to live up to past expectations
Just tried the new double cask hoping to experience the old Macallan I used to love. Sadly the American oak flavour is too strong and it is now not worth the price. Compared the the Balvenie double wood, it comes in a distant second.

Such a let down for me
I had Macallan years ago but stayed avay because so many said its gone down on its craft. Finally had the double cask 12 and its sad to see a great whisky distiller going after profits not legacy.... This not bad but my god is the price ridiculous!! If half the price then okey whisky. Gonna stick to those who still take pride in their products. Lots of vanilla and citrus on the nose and palate. Very short finish, and watery.
