The Claymore
Blended
The term "claymore" is from the Scottish Gaelic for "great sword", and it's an ancient style of Scottish sword used by the Highlanders. This wonderful blended whisky was created in its honour.

The only saving grace is that is not sweet, rough blend, prepare for a stomach beating, its like coleman stove fluid with oak essence
Nice subtle flavour, with a lovely smokey oak taste to it.
Picked this up at Carrefour and was very pleasantly surprised given the modest price ... excellent blend, very easy to sip straight, surprisingly full-bodied, very well-balanced in flavour, not over-sweet and with a hint of smoke and character ... very satisfying daily Scotch sipper
Forgot to rate it, my rating reflects the fact it's a blend and it's cheap. Compared to a single malt it would be a solid 1, I haven't tried a malt that I would rate below this... but for the fact it's a blend and it's cheap, it gets a 3 and half, it's high up there in then blends, never had Money's Shoulder so I can't say how it'd compare to a quality blend, but better than most of the regular blends.
Not much of a fan of blends, not being a snob, if find most blends are a bit too sweet for me... I haven't tried that many, but most of the big UK brands seem to go that way (In my humbled opinion). I have recently moved to the UAE and I have a local alcohol store that is stocked in the "finest" Indian blends, I wanted to give on of them a try as they're priced at about £3 for two 75cl bottles, but they guy in the shop said that I wouldn't enjoy them and to try Claymore which is priced at £8.50 for two litre bottles, I took him up on the recommendation and have never looked back, it's by no means a fine whiskey, but it is a lot more enjoyable than most of then blends I have tried... although I have to agree with people saying it's a little rough, it's not a delicate refined taste, but it is tasty and there is no sweetness there. It'll do as a stop gap while they money is still being spent on furniture!
