This is the second addition to the 'Spot' range of Irish whiskeys, which contains the famous Green Spot Pot Still Whiskey. The Yellow Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey which has been matured in three types of cask: American bourbon cask, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks for a sweeter flavour.
There are masses of fleshy stone fruit on the nose, especially peach and apricot with hints of sherried dried fruit and bourbon cask vanilla.
The palate is equally fruity with a substantial body and a velvety texture.
The finish is long and sweet with notes of marzipan and dried apricots.
This is very different to the Green Spot we all know and love with a delicious sweetness to it and a firmer body.

This is why I drink Irish whiskey Yellow Spot 12 says everything I want to say about perfection. I switch with Redbreast 12 and Powers but to sip Yellow Spot Neat is as good as it gets.
Just got a bottle of yellow spot as a gift from my daughter who recently returned from Ireland. Exceptionately good whiskey. This will not be my last bottle.
Like this but over priced in comparison to green spot
Got my first bottle in September 2012....the best in my collection! Just got my second today (August 2014) I will treasure this one even more. Now...bring on the Red Spot...I can only imagine what it would be. Yum!
This has quickly become one of my favourite whiskys/ies. There's something reminiscent of a Balvenie 16yo single cask, but with much greater depth of flavour and complexity. Agree wholeheartedly with comment from 15th May 2013 that this comes across as a more mature single malt. I think the tasting notes above have it about right. It goes down easily even at bottle strength and I've found that adding a little water doesn't change the flavour too much, which is a good thing in this case, while bringing down the strength.
