Green Spot Single Pot Still

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Green Spot Single Pot Still to you in United States at the moment. We're working on a solution.

Green Spot Bottling Note

Green Spot is a fabulous single pot still whiskey and much loved by the critics. This Irish whiskey has come far from the days when it was only sold in Mitchell's grocer shop in the heart of Dublin, though its flavour profile is still just as robust. The whiskey has matured in a combination of first and second fill bourbon casks as well as sherry casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Hints of peppermint, malt, sweet barley, sugary porridge, creamy vanilla, papaya and citrus.

Palate: Spicy and soft, gentle bourbon oak, green woods, menthol, potpourri.

Finish: Creamy, long finish, vanilla.

Green Spot Single Pot Still Reviews

Love this stuff

Another great Irish pot still whiskey from the Midleton distillery that I would say gives Redbreast 12 a run for it's money, let's dive right in! On the nose creamy banana pudding , a hint of peppermint as well as caramelized sugar (pretty sure a bourbon cask was used at some point in the maturation), on the palate the creamy banana pudding takes the front seat with some shortbread and minty/ herbal notes as well as sweet barley and toffee. The creamy mouthfeel alone makes this worth seeking out this is truly the cream of the crop. I would drink this far more often if it was a little more available here this is a great daily dram. Slainte! The Sugarbear

Good Pot Still

Another top class pot still, but a little light for some tastes and lacks real depth, but one to always keep in a rotation

25th May 2020

Fantastic, just go for it

This is as good as it gets at this price. Every single dram tastes different - fruity, spicy, vanilla cream, oak, brown sugar. It's a feast, you won't regret it.

26th April 2020

not my whiskey

Good and balanced but slightly thin or watery in taste. Does not tolerate any water addition or becomes completely flat. I'll stick with Redbreast and Jameson in the future.

11th March 2020

Amazing. Buy it.

Amazing whiskey. Found the apple freshness so addictive.

Highly recommended

26th February 2020

I need some more

Fantastic love it one of the best ever

25th January 2020

Easy mellow smooth easy fonish on palate

I tried this in ireland and found it here. Fantastic mellow whiskey, smooth with a fantastic lingering finish on the palate with mild notes of sherry and vanilla citrus. Easy mellow refined whiskey to drink at a great price

Irish Whiskey

one of my faverite whiskey, well balanced and smooth.

13th December 2019

Very nice whiskey - Ireland at its best!

Never tasted a whiskey so well balanced. Just love it

8th November 2019

Fruity, smooth, perfect for novice

Very fruity and smooth Irish whiskey. Definitely recommend!

19th July 2019

Won't buy again

Expensive and boring. I'm very disappointed.

6th June 2019

Buy Redbreast Instead

Has a watery smoothness that doesn't disappoint and makes drinking it enticing and easy. It draws you in with a pleasant oaky vanilla, and then immediately gives you a very delicate spice with some mild vanilla that you could easily miss if you aren't paying attention, and then it quickly ripens into a soft tea-like bitter. Overall, very good, but as far as I'm concerned, Redbreast is just the wiser choice since they are almost equal in cost (where I live), and while Greenspot can be drunk on any occasion, you likely won't due to how much you spent on it, and Redbreast will make those special moments feel all the more special with its true creamy custard and nuttiness.

19th April 2019

Cheap - and rather nasty.

OK, the bottle has been open a week and there is no improvement. Dominated by a bitter tang which isnt pleasant. Odd given the mostly good reviews - I can only suggest that Green Spot isn't the same as previous. Not a bottle to buy again, the rest is going into my home-made blend.

Next time Jack Ryan 12.

27th January 2019

Not a spot on the yellow

£29 xmas reduction (amazon) and a fair price for what you get. First few glasses are dissapointing, this is WAY below the standard of superb Yellowspot, but it is also less than half the price.

Enticing light bourbon nose, taste is milk chocolate mints, quite bitter oak, absolutely zero in the way of peaches or tropical fruit (yellowspot). I'm wondering if the bottle needs to be open for a week or so for the whiskey to improve - or is this this the reality of NAS when they can dumb it down and the punter is none the wiser?

Yes I'm happy to drink it but to be fair it isnt that special.

22nd January 2019

Keep the recipe and samples in Switzerland as the reference.

Amazing whiskey. It's subtle and well composed. Great ambassador of Single Pot Still style, if you dont like it, chances are it is not style of whiskey for you. On the nose typical apples, hay and cream combo. Unmistakably Irish. Palate is sweet and developing into spice, again typically Irish SPS. The finish is medium, pleseantly fading. Goes well with expresso shot.
This is one of the most important whiskeys in the world to cherish in my opinion. A yardstick for single pot still, like Redbreast or Powers Johns Lane.
Sorry for the dissapointed peeps, but for me, a solid 5 star!

24th December 2018

New levels

Worth every penny takes whiskey to a level .............

14th December 2018

Good whisky for the monney.

Very Smooth and soft, but in a good way. Perfect when you have visit, everyone likes it !

4th November 2018

Sooooo good

I am big fan of peated and complex whisky, Lagavulin or Laphroaig are my usual go to. Sometimes, you prefer a sweet and easy dram and this Green Spot is all about that. Lovely taste and so Smooth, so fruity. Makes your hard day the beginning of a nice and pleasant evening.

2nd November 2018

Five Stars due to the price

This is an incredibly smooth and a very, very good whisky. I am giving it five stars because of the price. If this were $80 to $100 (which it should be) I would give it 4 stars. This is great whiskey to recommend to friends who are somewhat new to whiskey. It is sweet and inviting.

23rd May 2018

It's up there!

Amazingly smooth on the palate! This will dazzle your taste buds!! Really, really good!!!

23rd April 2018

Hard to beat for the asking price

This is a very fine everyday/anyday whiskey. For me, this is one of those Whiskeys that combines elements of other favorite whiskeys making it perfectly drinkable anytime. It has so much to offer, it very often tastes different with each sip depending on what I do with air, placement, and swallow. Amazing product with outstanding fruitiness derived from the Sherry casks. I'm now getting a peaches and cream on the finish long after swallow ... truly a Chimera. Need to try the Yellow Spot to compare which is the better value.

15th March 2018

Definitely will have Green Spot in my rotation.

It was last bottle on the shelf, so that helped me make my decision Everyone in Santana Premium Cigars was quiet until they tasted it. This whiskey was excellent. Wonderfully smooth and great on the palate. Pairs great with your favorite cigar!

11th March 2018

Green Spot is amazing

Green Spot is amazing. As is the Bordeaux Cask, though my friend’s review of the Green Spot (Bordeaux Cask Finish): "Compared to Green Spot, which is awesome, it's not 'girl pulling on your balls before you finish' but it's good."

10th March 2018

Purchased this single malt after a few discussions and my opinion of this gem of a single malt from Ireland is complex apples cinnamon clean and smooth.
Smooth as in a delicious swirl in the mouth and smack bang green apples oak tenacious after burn only slight yet lingering lets you know and value for money.
A great single pot still malt with great characteristics.
One for the shelf....indeed

4th March 2018

Good Background Whiskey.

I've recently received a bottle of Green Spot. Everything is what I expected, the nose somewhat complex and palet friendly; however, I found it almost too neutral and almost watery. Sadly, the only Irish comparison I can make is Jameson Caskmates stout edition, which personally was smoother and more complex.

20th February 2018

I highly recommend Green Spot Whiskey. Can’t go wrong with Green when it comes to Irish whiskey

Very good Whiskey. I’ve been a fan of Jameson. I am now a fan of green spot. Green Spot similarities of the black barrel reserve Jameson with a smaller price tag. Extremely smooth. I will try the Yellow Spot next and compare to the 12 year Jameson. Love my Whiskey.

31st January 2018

By far the smoothest and best-tasting Whisky I have ever tasted.

9th January 2018

It feel like my heart has been wrapped in an electronic blanket. It has no bite. It's St. Petters jizzzzz... And I'm gay for it.

24th December 2017

Amazing at this price!

This has been one of my absolute favorite whiskeys since I had it in an Irish pub in Salzburg (back when I was young). Thanks to master of malt I can get it in the states for the first time in decades! It's nothing fancy, but at the price it beats all the commonly available Irish whiskeys in my book (and even some good single malt scotches).

18th December 2017

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Quite impressive for its combination of richness, smoothness, length, and complexity.

30th November 2017

Bought this after so many good reviews. However, this is disappointing. Slightly better with ice but just could not finish my glass.

19th November 2017

Try it! (I Like the creamy vanilla finish)

Delicious! A Christmas 'must have'! Loved by Husband & I since we first tried a few years back.😊

18th November 2017

Easy drinking

an unmistakeable irish pot still whiskey, and a great session dram. it's hard to criticise a drink as smooth, tasty and easy drinking as this, however i have to concure a wee bit with the 'Very pleasant' review below as it is very much on the 'safe' side and wont offend or overpower any casual whisk(e)y drinkers in the way say a heavily peated islay might get a strong reaction. Having said that, im glad i have this to dip into now and again, but would say that the redbreast 12 is a better irish in the same price range.

27th October 2017

Meets expectations

Nose, slight floral and caramel not much is detectable

Taste - A well rounded sweetness on the tip of the tongue that fades into wood

With water - Really opens up and smooths out, maple syrup, vanilla, creme brûlée with a wood after taste. Reminds me slightly of Armagnac.

Best Irish Whiskey I’ve ever had

12th October 2017

Life is too short for any other whiskey.

I had a glass of this at at Gerty Brown's in Athlone a couple of nights ago. I'm not normally a whisky drinker but this was fabulous, the nicest whisky I have ever tasted. I went back last night and had the last slug of the bottle. I think I'm going to keep a bottle of this in the house for special guests.

3rd August 2017

Very pleasant

What can I say about Green Spot? It's very pleasant, almost too pleasant. Don't get me wrong, it's a real crowd pleaser but just fails to wow me. It's like ordering macaroni cheese in a fine Italian restuarant. You know your going to enjoy it but at the cost of experiencing something more adventurous. I think this is best purchased for someone who likes "safe" well versed cuisine, European summer holidays & bland brick boxes in Hampshire.

2nd August 2017

Very nice. Sharp fruit with a long vanilla finish. Excellent for the price.

2nd July 2017

Absolutely the best

Simply the Best 🥃

1st June 2017

Absolutely the best Irish whiskey I have ever tasted.

After a wonderful trip to Ireland, I decided to bring back a few bottles of Irish Whiskey I could not purchase in the states (this was in 2014). On the recommendation of the the merchant at the duty free, I bought a bottle of Green Spot and a bottle of Jameson Reserve. I have always been a Jack Daniels drinker, Gentleman Jack to be precise. When I got back, my friends and I tried the Jameson Reserve first. It was very good but definitely not as smooth as the Gentleman. Then the Green Spot. What a smooth, creamy, warm delight! I can't say it will ever completely replace Gentleman Jack. But, Green Spot is the only other whiskey I purchase for personal use.

24th May 2017

Amazing value

Great smooth and creamy. Epic value for money

22nd May 2017

Can not drink this one

I am the big fan of Jameson but can not drink the green spot.
There must be something wrong with my bottle because it is tasteless and all
I can smell is just alcohol.
Did not buy it from master of malt and don't want to spoil the rating but for my bottle I would
rate 1 star.

28th April 2017

Spot on with Green Spot.

A very nice whiskey, which makes me think will my next purchase be the Yellow Spot !

Very probably.

13th April 2017

Best Whiskey in the world, Green Spot is....

Best Whiskey you can get for £40. Tastes good, powerful taste with a range of tangy and zingy flavours. Makes the mouth and nose come alive and can be truly savoured. Perfect after dinner or a long day treat.

11th April 2017

Smooth and tasty

Unusually light for a single pot still whiskey, this is a great take on the style, a very approachable and delicious sipping whiskey. One of my favorites. Absolutely worth picking up a bottle.

18th March 2017

My idea of a perfect whiskey

Smooth and soft, lovely neat or with a touch of water. I get a sweet smell and a nice balanced flavour with a bit of everything. Smooth and warming finish. Just having one isn't an option.

12th March 2017

Soft and elegant, yet uniquely pronounced. Sultrily beautiful.

What you say above is true. It's soft and elegant. Nothing harsh here whatsoever. It lies sweetly on the tongue. I'm in love.

15th February 2017

Perfect in every way. Every moment.

Came to this site to just glance at the reviews (as i do when remembering great whisky). Planning on sitting by the fire with friends and relaxing. Always clean and never watered down feel. Even if you have 2 cubes. I just use 1 for this peach of in the moment enjoyment. Little sweet and never harsh. Perfect for all around "me" time. For about 50 at max its great in every way.

21st January 2017

Green Spot

Just a correction: according to the distiller's web site. Green Spot is not single pot, but composed of several pot still whiskies, aged 7 to 10 years in bourbon casks finished in sherry casks.

13th December 2016

Delicious and smooth!

Tried this at Rira Pub in Atlantic City. Very smooth. Hoping to get some back home =)

7th November 2016

Great occasion whiskey

One of my favorites, clean taste, mildly sweet. Best neat

Irish Whiskey

Wonderful :-)

4th August 2016

The best Irish whiskey I have ever tasted.

Saturday was able to visit with a friend who traveled to Dublin for work a few weeks back. First time there for him and he absolutely loved it. He brought back a couple of bottles of this whiskey. We only cracked one bottle, because we already had another bottle of a Japanese label already open and dipped into, but I can tell you, this is the real deal. Once this was tried, it was the whiskey for the rest of the night until we reached the end of the bottle.

The flavor was incredible, full but not too strong or overpowering with too much sweetness and it had just the right warm burn going down when sipped, and I can tell you, it made for an enjoyable evening. If you have not had the pleasure of trying this label I recommend highly that you try this, you will leave happy in the end.

Looking forward to trying the Yellow Spot next.

8th June 2016

One of a Kind!

I've been looking for a blend to replace Crown Rotal #16 since they no longer provide it here in the US. in my opinion, Green Spot meets and exceeds in flavor and quality! Love it!

20th May 2016

It's a smooth operator

Best Irish Whiskey I've ever had. Love it. Unfortunately, so does everyone else so we run out fast.

24th March 2016

I loved every bit of this whiskey from the first whiff upon opening the bottle to the last sip of the evening. Smooth, thick mouth feel, amazing balance of aromas and flavors.

18th March 2016

so very smooth, had a oban scotch after , liked the Green Spot better,,,,,,,,,,,,will not wait till next St paddies day to drink more

18th March 2016

Green Spot mouth feel

Almost a honey liqueur feel but not the taste

11th March 2016

A little sweet and thick

This goes down very easily. It is buttery, creamy and rich in mouth. It is also a bit sweet for my palate. (For reference, my favorites are Midleton Very Rare, Red Breast and more recently Writers Tears.

4th March 2016

Original Irish Alchemy

Although curious I put off trying this for a long time because some of the tasting notes sounded a bit love it or hate it. Big mistake. It's stunning and utterly unique. Really unusual and surprising but in brilliant and inexplicable ways. Apples on the nose, sure - and fantastic, but the taste is a lot maltier than I was expecting. It's not often a whiskey makes me go wow at every sip.

1st March 2016

Parse Divilly Galway

Lovely whisky I can say goodbye to reality 4 a while drinking green spot sitting in Nears in Dublin having a few shots

27th January 2016

Simply the best

This is my favourite whiskey. Its smoothness and creaminess is unparalleled. Of the 20+ Irish whiskeys in my collection this is the one I have most enjoyment introducing to friends especially the ones who claim not to enjoy whiskey.
If you prefer a more complex taste then this may not float your boat but if you prefer a mellow and smooth dram then I cannot recommend more highly.

22nd January 2016

Whiskey Tasting in Ireland

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Ireland and had the opportunity in testing a variety of Whiskeys. I think you'll agreed that once tasted, it has that smoothness, aroma and taste that most companies can only strive for. Hands down, Green Spot was very enjoyable.

22nd November 2015

Bob S

The best. Simples!!

20th November 2015

Excellent it's not an overstatement

One of the best, if not the best Irish whiskey, that is on the market. For this price, it has the flavour, it has the strength, it has the "all" factor in one. I strongly recommend.
As a side note, try the "Yellow spot" as well. And mark the difference this whiskey (not whisky) makes on your tongue. Unique.

17th October 2015

Hits the Spot

From my first sip, I have been enamored of this fine elixir. Sure it will smooth all of the wrinkles from your day!

28th August 2015

Wonderful mellow Irish whiskey to drink neat with just less teaspoon of water but I must admit both spot whiskey's are true perfection I like them both.

29th July 2015

Truly excellent

Recommended by a barman when i wanted something a bit different than the regular bottles you get hanging from optics.

Its powerful, quite spicy and strong, but with fruity aspects. A drop of water really seperates and brings out the flavours.

Lots of vanilla and a little fruity tang in there aswell. Beautiful straight, better with literally "a drop" of water at room temperature.

Highly recommended

27th April 2015

My new Go-To whiskey

I was in my local Irish bar a few months back and they were out of my standard Kilbeggan, The bartender recommended this and it is my new standard. The first thing that jumped out at me was how smooth this whiskey is. the mouth feel and finish are better than whiskeys costing mush more.

17th April 2015

Light but so good

Vanilla is strong and sugary. This is whiskey for summer evenings i recomented this for everyone

11th April 2015

Very light, but very good!

I tend towards more peaty whiskies, but this was a wonderful experience. Halfway through the first glass I felt like I was in a Five Star Bed and Breakfast. Fantastic whiskey.

16th March 2015

Darren from Belfast

To be honest I was disapointed doesn't have the creaminess that Powers has, Powers is half the price and just as good!

26th February 2015

Green Spot whiskey

Pleasantly surprised, new whiskey to add to the favourites list.

21st February 2015

For 50 euro you cannot go wrong

Very nice a must try.if your a cider drinker this one will probably suit your pallet

21st February 2015

Pretty, full, tasty

If a whisky could ever be described as "pretty" this may be it. The nose full of sweet floral scents and promises of summer, a palate of more fruit, sugar, toffee and herbs, and a long satisfying sundown style finish. Very different. And very recommended!

6th November 2014

Love it

I really liked the below post made on Sept. 5 because its important to me to challenge the things I like. Personally I love the Green Spot, for being smooth. To my palate, whiskies like the Bushmills 16 Yr have an almost sour bite that I don't much like. And the Teeling is ok but it doesn't hit me right. Green Spot just feels and tastes right. I like Red Breast a lot too but the Green Spot just... does it. The only other Irish that appeals to me so deeply is the Midleton Very Rare, and since that runs $150 a pop, I'm quite delighted with Green Spot at $45 a bottle.

22nd September 2014

Completely don't get this

Why are all the reviewers here so obsessed with smooth? Drink milk or dull the tastes with ice if you actually don't like tasting whisky. I fail to see any of the hype around this whiskey. I think its unrevealing on the nose, the pot still taste is the only interesting thing to elevate an otherwise flat taste and finish. Bushmills 10 is so much better if you want Irish or better still Tullibardine Sovereign.

5th September 2014

Sir Reginald Ker Fuffle

Unfortunately, I have been relocated to the relatively unknown, backwaterish Pacific Northwest in the States. I don't know what I did wrong, but here I am nevertheless. The worst of it all is that there is no Green Spot available unless one is willing to travel to Windsor, Ontario, wherever that might be. I beg anyone listening....please bring the Green Spot to the Pacific Northwest before I go ad.

7th August 2014

Redbreast was my favorite until I tasted Green Spot. The nose has a honey kick! It’s got a very sweet, almost a desert smell. My first impression, comparing it to Redbreast, is that it has far less of an alcohol kick to it. There’s something I can’t place, perhaps anise? On tasting it, it is sweet, but not cloyingly so. Nowhere near as complex as Redbreast. Oily in a good way – great mouth feel. After sipping for a while the nose becomes far less sweet. I taste something different each time I take a sip, but I keep coming back to the memory of graham crackers.

It smells like honey, reminds me of graham crackers, and feels like summer. And then the bottle is gone.

7th July 2014

Green Spot ON

I was introduced to this whiskey in a pub called Stags Head in Dublin. I was going to order another brand on the list of about 30 Irish Whiskey's and asked the bar keep what he would suggest. I took his advice and loved the flavor. Very smooth and a great finish. I bought a bottle on my way out of Dublin Airport. Glad to know I can order it and have it sent to me.

5th July 2014

SFC Mark Young

The first time I was introduced to this Whiskey was when I was visiting family in Sandy Cove Ireland. For years I had to have my mother bring it here as a gift to me. NOW YOU CAN BUY IT HERE!! This is the finest tasting Whisky. I actually prefer it over the Yellow Spot or the 12 year old Jameson. Nothing better on a Sunday afternoon on the patio with a nice cigar.

10th June 2014

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned bananas. To me this has a very strong banana flavor to it, on the nose, palate, and finish. It's especially noticeable if you water it down to about 30%. I'm not a big fan of banana flavor and I find this overpowering, drowns out everything else. I don't notice that flavor in the redbreast, as a comparison.

10th June 2014

Green Spot

This is a wonderful Whiskey, very easy to drink. Brought a couple of bottles back from Shannon..

16th May 2014

it taste the same?

got a bottle of green spot yesterday $45.00 tasted to just like redbreast 12 yr,i know it's from the same distillery.for the $3.00
dollars more i'll stick with the redbreast, but a great whiskey

A Flavor Explosion

I didn't much care for Redbreast, and had given up on Irish whiskey, but then I tried the Spot. Wow, it's so powerful (yet smooth), you'd think it was cask strength, but the label says 40%. It's as good as they say it is.

23rd January 2014

Lovely, delicious, a veritable treat and not even expensive!

This is, hands down, my favourite whisky so far (although I have many left to try "God willing"!

15th December 2013

Simply The Best, Better Than All The Rest....

Wow. Smoother than a young Tina Turners skin.... Tastier than.... well, tastier than both Redbreast and Black Bush. Easily the best Irish whiskey around. Gives a couple of the Japanese whiskeys and the Dalmore a run for their money in my favourite whiskey ever. This quite possibly takes the winners podium as its a good £10 cheaper than any of my other favourites. Jason Breen.

Liquor Snob

My wife travels internationally fairly regularly and brings home liquor from all over the world, Russian Vodka, Dominican Rum, etc. but my favorite has been the Green Spot Whiskey. It's fantastic, even compared with Whiskeys from across the globe. As I write this I'm re-ordering another bottle, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

4th May 2013

Whisky and whiskey lover

I've tasted many types over the years and have enjoyed most that I've tried. It's hard to get Green Spot here in the USA but having heard so many good things about it, I had to try it. So, I ordered some from across the pond. Smooth as silk, Light on the palate. Sweet without being overwhelming. It went down way to easy and sadly, it's all gone. I'm getting an order together with all my friends and am looking forward to many nights by the fire with my wife and my whiskey!
