This is the second addition to the 'Spot' range of Irish whiskeys, which contains the famous Green Spot Pot Still Whiskey. The Yellow Spot is a single pot still Irish whiskey which has been matured in three types of cask: American bourbon cask, Spanish sherry butts and Spanish Malaga casks for a sweeter flavour.
There are masses of fleshy stone fruit on the nose, especially peach and apricot with hints of sherried dried fruit and bourbon cask vanilla.
The palate is equally fruity with a substantial body and a velvety texture.
The finish is long and sweet with notes of marzipan and dried apricots.
This is very different to the Green Spot we all know and love with a delicious sweetness to it and a firmer body.

Having bought and drank the Redbreast 12, 15 and 21 year offerings I decided to give Yellow Spot a try. In my opinion it gives the Redbreast a run for their money. Very complex taste that does have a sweeter lingering after with notes of chocolate, vanilla and apricots. It's so good I'll try to always have some in stock.

Yellow Spot was a big hit at a wedding I attended have been saving it for the right occasion, had the crowd wanting for more.
I don't know how anyone can say that this is the same as the green spot. I had a comparative tasting They nose quite differently. Green is much richer strong in marzipan and grain notes fresh mown grass maybe touches of caramel of course. The yellow is more subdued much sweeter smell. Caramel is stronger notes of spices roasted nuts, fruit but apple or melon Green Toasted oak slight caramel. I'm coming back to freshly mown grass and apples The finish is long and strong of barley and malt Yellow Much creamier, very sweet toffee apples coat the mouth the oak is far more subdued Finish is long with oak initially several minutes later apple barley and grape raise their heads
Yes, that one hits the spot. A very smooth, though very potent whickey. Very enjoyable, though not inexpensive. Its one that you dont leave in view in the cabinet !
