This 1995 vintage from Glenrothes was the first of their whiskies to be aged with a specific character in mind. This was made with 70% refill casks and 30% sherry-treated casks (American and Spanish oak).
Nose: Buttery toffee apples and hints of allspice. A little milk chocolate, manuka honey, dates and cinnamon.
Palate: American-style pancakes laden with cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup. Creamy malt, sherry and peanut butter.
Finish: Long finish with toasted almonds and golden syrup.
Overall: A deliciously spicy, rich whisky.

Excellent sipping Whisky and a good mixer with a dash of water for those averse to the bite on the tongue. Not for first time introductions to the world of Scotch but most definitely a sought after for those who enjoy a flavourful and hearty single malt.

The finish on this one is something to die for. For all of the scotches in my collection lacking a big dose of smoke, this one is by far my favourite.

Did not think too much of the nose on this one - something not ticking all the boxes for me, but I'm not able to put my finger on exactly what. But the taste and finish - WOW! - thick, creamy, oaky, sweet, spicy, rich.Very good indeed.
