Evan Williams 2010-2018 Bottling Note

The range of single barrel bourbon from Evan Williams has long been a reliable source for top-notch American whiskey at very reasonable prices. This 2010 vintage expression (bottled in 2018) continues that theme. Excellent stuff.

Evan Williams Single Barrel 2010 (bottled 2018) Reviews

"Budget bourbon" what? This costs 80 USD

I don't know what universe "M Horrell" is living in, but here this bourbon costs 68 Euros, which converts to 80 USD. This is a high end bourbon, almost the same price as an 18 year old whisky such as Glenmorangie Extremely Rare.

Best budget bourbon with age statement

I'm no expert but I have tried over 400 whiskies since my journey started. Scotch is my main stay but have been exploring American of late. Anyway I digress. This little number is a beaut. As a fan of Evan Williams white label and the extra aged I was keen to try their single barrel. As with most single barrels its a notch up and for the price its noticeable. Beautiful nose full of the classic rich bourbon characteristics one would expect. Neat it has a real punch much more than you would expect from 43.3%. It's full of charred oak due to its age and offers a musky, dusty warehouse scent. The palate doesn't disappoint, full and rich with burnt molasses and toffee vanilla. Quite oily in the mouth. The finish is spicey and feels full of rye. I don't usually add water or ice unless making a cocktail but doing so does offer up more complex flavour. Overall fantastic stuff and on par with much pricier counterparts. I'd highly recommend.

Perfect alternative to single malt .

If there is a reason why I have not bought Scottish single malts because of their excessive high price this bourbon is a perfect example. Spicy and sweet but not to sweet. Perfect balance. A bourbon that does not needs a reason to be enjoyed as an alternative to any single malt.
