Black Gate 3 Year Old - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
It's the first batch of Black Gate single malt whisky to be independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Founded is New South Wales, Black Gate is helmed by the husband and wife team of Brian and Genise Hollingworth, and it's not just Australian whisky they produce - they also make Australian rum, too! This expression here is a well-sherried single malt, and features Frankie the dachshund on the label herding some emu, as well as a lark (in reference to Bill Lark, whom Brian studied the art of distillation under).
Batch 1 is a release of 254 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Ripe red grape sweetness, with a good helping of treacle and warming oak.
Palate
Burnt sugar, heavy vanilla, raisin, oily malt, and another rich helping of oak spices.
Finish
Lingering honey, brown sugar, and plum notes.
