Arran 8yo 2013 Bottling Note

If you’re looking for a dram that’s ‘as natural as it gets’, straight from the cask, with no added colouring or chill-filtration — then say hello to the new release from indie bottlers Douglas Laing. Part of their Provenance Coastal Collection, which highlights the unique character of Scotland’s finest seaside distilleries. For this release we’re on the Isle of Arran — or ‘Scotland in miniature’ thanks to its impressive array of microclimates — and at the relatively young Arran distillery. Matured for 8 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, only 326 bottles of this exceptional single cask single malt have been produced, and with bags of character that we’ve already come to expect from the island distillery.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Lots of barley, with bourbon-barrel sweetness, driftwood and warm, gentle spices.

Palate: Vanilla ice cream by the seaside! Stroopwafels, and a touch of iodiney sea spray.

Finish: Toffee apples, with delicate honey.
