Description

The third release in Arran’s Signature Series, Duero Discovery showcases 12 years of unpeated Arran single malt aged in bourbon barrels before a finishing period in red wine casks from Spain’s Duero River region. Selected by distillery manager Stewart Bowman, it’s a vibrant, oak-forward dram bursting with red fruit and spice.

Nose

Caramelised fruit, hazelnuts, and zesty grapefruit peel.

Palate

Full-bodied and creamy with red berries, vanilla, ginger, and oak spice.

Finish

Sweet and nutty with ripe figs and soft lingering sweetness.

Lovely whisky

Drinks very nicely neat, but the addition of just a drop of water really amplifies the sweet dark berry flavours. I didnt think water would improve this, but for me it both opened up the nose, amplified the berry and extended the finish. Great stuff.
