Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry Reviews

Christmas is cancelled. Harvey's Bristol Cream is now watered down cheap tasting arse gravy. If it wasn't broke why did some idiot decide to rebrand and ruin it?

30th November 2020

Harvey's is best....

I think this is the finest Sherry in the world..
Bollox to the US

12th November 2020

Very poor not worth paying for

I would not buy another bottle its surely cant be harveys

28th October 2020

Watered Down Harveys 😭

What has happened to HBC?
Tastes watered down. Not the wonderful taste I've enjoyed for 20 + years. Why change what doesn't need to be changed? Please bring back my Harvey's.

24th September 2020

Wouldn’t even award it 1 star 😡

Terrible! What a disappointment. Will not be buying this again. Have started to search for something comparable to the original Harvey’s Bristol Cream, so far without success.

26th July 2020

Ruining of a once great sherry

New HBC Solera sherry is terrible. Put 0.75 of a pint in my trifle, couldn’t even taste it. Been using it for 30 years in my trifles, won’t be buying it again. So disappointing.

22nd July 2020

Tastes great!

Just opened a 45 year old bottle 🙂🇺🇸

22nd June 2020

This is NOT the Bristol Cream Sherry we buy it's Solera Sherry.

I can't figure out why this stuff is called Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry and costs $18.51 when it isn't in the original Bristol Cream bottle which costs about $40. From the reviews, it's not the same stuff. It's Solera Sherry a name that does not appear on the original Bristol cream bottle. Harvey's are not doing themselves any good by trying to sell an inferior product associated with the name of a really wonderful one!

20th June 2020

Broken hearted!

Really sad that Harvey's Bristol Cream is no longer recognizable as the rich, smooth nectar that has sustained our family lunchtime gatherings for generations. Just like any old amontillado now. Such a shame. What are they playing at? International markets, perhaps? But Harvey's Bristol Cream was always such a quintessentially English thing!

16th June 2020

I thought this solara was an alternative to HBC and NOT supposed to be the same sherry. It does not taste the same to me. Something is different. Please change it back.

29th May 2020

Very disappointed

What has happened to the lovely smooth sherry we have bought every Christmas.? We couldn't drink this new one. I even tried the new sherry against some of the original and it was so different we are So disappointed.

14th May 2020

Worst decision ever to change Harvey's bristol cream sherry.

Up till this Christmas Harvey's bristol cream was Christmas to me the wonderful velvet taste but this new solero stuff tastes nothing like the Harvey's I loved the velvet taste has gone and replaced with a strange after taste which I hate, what have they done to a wonderful and best sherry in the world, christmas will never be the same again bring back my beloved harveys with the cork top, why change something that was perfect.

No product rating

I’m not a lover of alcohol, although not completely tea total, but all my adult life I’ve enjoyed a bottle of Harvey’s Bristol Cream Sherry. Now I’m in my 70s and bought a bottle to enjoy over Xmas. It was horrible! I have thrown it away as I was so disappointed. It was a runny musty smelling/tasting disaster. To say nothing has changed and to pass this off as the original is a disgrace. So sad to see such a product ruined in this way and I certainly will not buy again.

27th February 2020

Harvey’s in name only!

So sad at the change. This is not the Harvey’s Bristol Cream that I have loved all of my adult life. Harvey’s in name only! Definitely not the rich, creamy, sweet full bodied sherry that it used to be. Wish I knew of a brand comparable to the old HBC. Will not be buying this stuff again.

24th February 2020

Very sad

Horrid! What have they done to our favourite sherry? It tastes like cheap rubbish. Won't be buying it again. Very disappointed. Feel like asking for my money back it is so bad.

20th January 2020

Not the HBC I have enjoyed.

I contacted Harvey by email about my perceived change of taste of the Solera Sherry. They have replied that it is only the labelling that has been changed? That contents therein are the same as before. Can it be that we are all wrong? It certainly doesn't have that lovely full bodied taste it used to have. It also looks paler to me.

6th January 2020

A shadow of its former srlf3

Just had some Harvey's Bristol Cream over the holidays. Well, you may call it by that name, but it is no longer the same product. I was shocked and appalled! The rich, velvety taste I remember has been replaced by a watery swill with little of the old flavour. Folks, spend your money on a better product. This is trying to call faux fur "mink."

31st December 2019

How ruin Christmas pud, and sauce

Isn't it a horrible disappointment?! Not a dry sherry, as Harveys Dry was. Where did that go? Not smooth. NOT Creamy. Both the soaked fruit for Christmas pudding and the sauce have needed doctoring~we will not be buying HBC until an apology and return to the classic.

31st December 2019

NOT Harveys Bristol Cream

The Solera Sherry is not Harveys Bristol Cream. It is awful. What a shame! We have bought Harveys Bristol Cream for decades, but we will not be buying this

14th December 2019

Oh really is that bad.

Dreadful. Is it still sherry? The nose is overwhelmed by ...industrial alcohol? This classic has been ruined by heavy handed commercialisation. Sadly after 50 years HBC and I must part company

29th October 2019

Oh dear!

What has been done to this?
Thin, and definitely a shadow of it's former self. What a horrid shock.

30th August 2019

What an absolute tragedy. Not buying new stuff again.

How terrible. One of the things in life which I most enjoyed was Harvey’s Bristol Cream. Now some heartless business men have substituted it for Solera sherry at my supermarket. How do I get the real Bristol Cream? I am prepared to pay. J M Thomas 92 years old.

15th August 2019

Thanks for screwing my sherry trifle up this is weak and watered down.

9th August 2019

No longer a great Sherry

So sad that the best ever Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry has been 'improved' with what tastes like watered down wine. It is tragic. No more Sherry to look forward to at Christmas. Don't waste your money. So disappointed.

1st August 2019

Destroyed at great sherry

OMG what have they done to it ? Forget the fancy label change the sherry is nothing like HBC which I have been drinking for over 50 years. Will not be buying another bottle. Devastated!

21st June 2019

Bring back our original Harvbeys Bristil Cream please!!!!!!

Where is our old "original" Harveys Bristol Cream? Solera not as good- do not like! Please at least give us the choice of which one to chose. I can tell you now that we all prefer the original and want it back!

3rd June 2019

New blend is nowhere near as good

Please can we have the original back. My 95 year old mother credits ‘Bristol Cream’ for her longevity.

20th February 2019

Awful not like it used to be

Thy have changed the sherry to a very inferior and not likeable drink, will not buy anymore

30th December 2018

I always remember my parents having it Christmas now I’m having it Christmas it’s superb

29th December 2018

Great flavoured medium sweet sherry.

23rd December 2018

Absolutely love this sherry

5th May 2018

A special treat

Delicious complex sweet, tangy flavor.

My wife hates wine in general and tolerates light beer. I prefer various whiskeys, neat. We both love Harveys Bristol Cream as a special treat every week or so. No other cream sherry I've tasted compares.

25th January 2018

Not harsh like brandy and has an excellent flavor. It makes a really great after dinner sipping beverage.

29th December 2017

Discovered this and as a young man it may not be fashionable but it should be! Very tasty, give it a try

8th October 2017

Great smooth taste with a spice or kick

I just bought this tonight for the first time. This is amazingly good stuff. Although I am a female, I do like it. But my thought is, that this is probably more of a man drink. My husband had some and really liked it too. I would buy it again. I didn't have the problem others have had with opening the bottle. But maybe they fixed that problem.

8th May 2017

I used to drink this with my father in the evenings . I bought a bottle yesterday after not tasting it in 35 years. I am in love with it all over again. It seems a little different that what I remember from decades ago but it is wonderful. I have no hope of this bottle lasting long.

21st November 2016

Boston love affair

I am finally retired. I have waited to have my sherry glass filled with the best. Tonight I had my first drink. I may live in GA but I retain my roots.Wonderful

15th October 2016

Been drinking HBC since I was in college

Great before dinner or after dinner. Has a range that sets it apart from the rest.

28th February 2016

Terrible Marketing

To save a schilling some one put it in a horrible -ugly -cheap looking bottle....Go back to the 50 year standard

You look like Gallo or worse

YUCKEE presentation

8th February 2016

overpriced sweet wine

it costs 27 quid in Singapore!

1st December 2015

The crême de la crême

Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry is the crême de la crême and certainly one of Britain's most highly rated institutions.

Hi John,

We would like to discuss this with you further, please send us an email -

Kind regards,

I think the metal cap on the 1litre bottle is dangerous. My wife has just cut her finger open as the cap has metal spikes sticking out when twisted to open. Unable to find out where to report as nothing on web site to give information.

31st August 2015

I love Harvey's Bristol Cream, yet also find it extremely frustrating to open. It is dangerous with scissors or a knife, too difficult and takes so long that I definitely need a drink once it's finally opened. Other than that,'it's perfect! So delicious.

30th April 2015

Stella Connor

Love the Bristol Cream BUT I find opening the bottle very, very difficult. The perforations are not deep enough in the foil covering on the cap. I always have to use a knife to cut round the perforations....which of course can be dangerous. A pity.

21st February 2015

Harveys Bristol Cream

I think that Harveys Amontillado is better suited as an aperitif - a delightful medium dry sherry that does a perfect job of stimulating the appetite before a meal.

8th February 2015

how much sugar in Harvey Bristol cream sherry.amay sister has diabetes and needs to know.

28th December 2014

Mr Town

Drink it with great regularity. But whatever became of Bristol Milk which I liked even more?

14th October 2014

Mrs Kennedy

I live in New Zealand and haven't had Harveys bristol cream for over 40 years and I wondered if it was still being made. Best sherry on the market and bristol milk was very nice also

21st June 2014

Mr d hunt

Today I bought a bottle of Harvey's Bristol cream sherry . This was so delicious that i consumed two bottles and as a consequence broke my John Lewis cut glass sherry glass £15. This I consider to be your fault. If your sherry was not so good I would not have got slightly drunk and broken my lovely sherry glass. I therefore expect you to renew my sherry glass so that I may continue to enjoy bristolcream. If you refuse, I will be obliged to beg my relations to replace my john Lewis glass, any other inferior glass will not do. This is your fault. STOP SELLING SUCH DELICIUOS SHERRY!
And replace my glass

my grandmother wont drink anything else but this and i love it myself

20th February 2014

Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry

It's a classic taste.. my step-grandmother recieved a bottle every year for decades from a life-long friend. I keep a bottle around at all times, and share a glass very deliberately when with good friends. For its price point, it's very enjoyable. For some reason, I do enjoy it more in the cooler months or around the holidays. Great dessert wine.

17th January 2014

Harvey's Bristol Cream Sherry

This have been my go to drink for all occasions at any time of day. I have been drinking Harvey' Bristol Cream for 47 years. I also drink Champagne and Cognacs, vsop's, but XO is the one I like best, Remy Martin is my brand. When ever I am invited by my friends, there is always a bottle of Harvey's and I get to take it home. I visits friends in N.Y. Every year for my birthday, and where I stay is always waiting for me is a bottle of Harvey's and chocolates. If you like pies or cakes, then you should love Harvey's. So smooth with lemon on lime slices. Goooooood drink.

1st April 2013

I Love Harveys

I love a small glass of this stuff after a tough day.

There is something wonderfully nostalgic about it. It has a smooth, slightly sweet taste. And it has just enough of a kick to remind you it's for the mature adults.

Let the kids keep their drinks. This is for the rest of us. The ones who believe having a drink is meant for more than the act of drinking itself.

25th February 2013

it blows

It made me throwup in my mouth!

21st February 2013

Harveys Bristol Cream Sherry 17.5
